As you may already know, 2017 is the 500th anniversary of the split between the Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church. Thanks to the work of the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Commission on Unity over the past 50 years,

we will not only be recognizing 500 years of division but, also, a 50 year, Holy Spirit guided, dialogue on ecumenical reconciliation toward the common witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We began this witness with a service of Common Prayer similar to the one celebrated recently in Sweden at which Pope Francis gave the homily. Our service was held at Grace Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 22, at 3:00 PM. Capuchin Fr. Martin Schratz and Pastor Greg Williams co-presided. The service stressed thanksgiving and repentance and our commitment to Jesus' prayer to the Father in John 17:11 and 17:21-22 "that they may be one as We are one". Thank you for your prayers and support as we try to live the gospel.
