A Prayer for my Mother

Holy God, Creator of all life,
You compare Your love for Your people
to the love of a mother for her children.
Through the intercession of the
Blessed Virgin Mary
abundantly bless my own dear mother.

She taught me how to stand and
to walk; Give her now the strength
of Your Spirit. She showed me how
to speak and to pray;
Surround her now with the sound
of Your voice. She nurtured me
and loved me into life;
Tenderly touch her now with
Your joy and peace.

Grant her the serenity and rich
fulfillment of a job well done,
a life well lived. Forgive all her mistakes
and frustrations. Reward all her
sacrifices and self-giving.

May She, who carried life in her womb,
be gently welcomed into Your Divine Embrace,
to rejoice for all eternity with everyone
she loved and cared for. Amen.
