How often do you remember your loved ones who have died?
Remembering the lives of deceased loved ones can, at times, be
like a pebble falling into a pool of water. As the pebble makes the
water ripple for a short time upon impact, so too does the
meaning of someone's life affects us for a short period until we
settle back into our daily routines.
Shouldn't our lives mean more than just a short ripple
effect?
Yes, it should.
That's why each year our Catholic family remembers
the lives of those we loved but are no longer with us.
Throughout the month of November, beginning with All
Soul's Day on November 2nd, 2009, we offer Mass each
day and expressions of love for the souls of our
beloved deceased. Names of the departed loved
ones' are submitted to the Capuchin Friars and
entered into the Capuchin Book of Memory, located
next to the Tabernacle of the Holy Eucharist in our
Chapel. Your loved ones will be remembered in
prayer by our Friars for an entire year. Special
remembrances will be honored with a rose placed on
the altar by Fr. Vincent Fortunato, O.F.M.Cap, in the
name of the deceased loved one.
These expressions of love and gratitude can help us
to appreciate our deceased loved ones' lives,
enabling us to be more generous and loving to one
another.
